ABSTRACT

The museum director should ensure that an up-to-date training policy and training programme exist for all staff. Individuals working for the museum will have experience or qualifi cations of different types. But, as we have seen in Units 101 and 102, it is the responsibility of managers to identify when and where in-service training is needed to complement existing skills through regular performance appraisal of the museum’s staff. Every effort should be made to meet training needs through whatever forms of provision are available and, of course, affordable.
