ABSTRACT
The museum decided to display its foreign ethnographic collections within a thematic framework based on cross-cultural issues such as kinship, power relationships, long-distance trade and exchange systems. The displays explained similarities and differences in the ways different societies in different parts of the world addressed these issues and how these were refl ected in their material culture.
