ABSTRACT
Forecasting is a necessary pre-requisite to most operational activities. Without an estimate of the future it is not possible to plan for the level of activity which is to be expected and, hence, not possible to estimate the resources that need to be designed, planned and controlled to fulfil that level of activity.
