ABSTRACT

Young and Nie in their book Managing Global Operations [1] designate “operations as being the very soul of the organization” and note that global manufacturing and global service firms have “similar challenges in going global.” Global executives agree that all corporate operations, beginning with research and development (R&D) and continuing to customer service, need be globalized for the organization to integrate, link, leverage, and optimize its global powers. In this chapter we will look at how to globalize each of the twelve operations of the global company (see Figure 7-1).
