ABSTRACT
This chapter considers flat roof structures and the most common waterproof coverings found in domestic buildings.
The function of a flat roof is, as with a pitched roof, to provide protection against the weather for the building and its occupants. In order to successfully fulfil this function the roof must satisfy a number of technical requirements related to:
• strength and stability • durability • weather protection • thermal insulation • fire.
