ABSTRACT
Discrete random variables are not the only type of random variable. You will also come across continuous random variables, variables whose possible values are not confined to a limited range. In the same way as we used discrete probability distributions to help us investigate the behaviour of discrete random variables we use continuous probability distributions to help us investigate the behaviour of continuous random variables. Continuous probability distributions can also be used to investigate the behaviour of discrete variables that can have many different values.
