ABSTRACT

Once you have made a decision about appointing someone to a job, it is likely to be a long time before you know whether the selection was the right one. If your decision was a good one, the new member of staff will perform well. If it was a bad one, the new person will perform badly. Selecting a bad candidate is not the only possible mistake, though. The other kind of wrong decision you might make is to reject the best candidate. How can you maximize your chances of getting it right?
