ABSTRACT

The hotel is worth rather more than the owners paid for it, which suggests that they can borrow some money to pay for some improvements. A few cheap improvements to take advantage of the fitness trend would be to purchase bicycles for use by guests and employ the services of a local guide for walking tours. Far more expensive would be to have a small gym built. Another possible investment would be to set up a business centre, with computers, printers, photocopiers, scanner and fax machines, and access to the Internet. The hotel could also employ a good chef with the ability to improve the quality of the food it offers, and perhaps make a feature of using organic and local ingredients and providing a range of vegetarian meals. Of course, once all these improvements have been made, the hotel will have to set about promoting itself. If it decides, for example, to create a business centre, it will need to promote itself to business as an ideal venue for meetings and team awaydays.
