ABSTRACT

The philosophical perspective of postmodernism is gaining rapid acceptance throughout social work practice and education. In the past few years the social work literature is uniform and consistent in describing its alleged advantages and relevance. This article takes the position that the acceptance of postmodernism by social work has taken place in uncritical fashion. It examines and discusses postmodernism and some potential unintended and negative consequences of it. [Article copies available for a fee from The Haworth Document Delivery Service: 1-800-342-9678.
