The human body requires a minimum of 1 L of water per day for its normal functioning. The usual amount of intake is some 2 L/day, in the form of food and drink. The per capita water consumption ( Table 4.17 ) in a large city can be as much as 2000 L (2 kL 2 m 3 ). How is the remaining 1998 L used?
