The Chinese, from their settlement on our boundary river, the Pakchan, have for long periods exported tin to Pinang, Mergui and Rangoon. In 1868, fifty tons were reported, but the quantity was probably much more. Their surface washings for the ore are still carried on by this industrious people. It is believed a large quantity of tin is annually obtained, and that the working is profitable.
