ABSTRACT
Martha, a former nursing educator with a PhD in nursing, exclaimed in wonder, “I quit my high-paying teaching job to become a parish nurse-this is what I came into nursing to be!” She seems typical of many parish nurses. Most are mature, competent nurses with strong faith commitment and a vision for serving God through nursing.
