ABSTRACT

Financial strategy and management are a core part of any business, supporting the achievement of the organisation’s short, medium and long-term goals. For facilities managers, financial management refers specifically to the effective and efficient use of available finance through the use of planning and control mechanisms. This, ideally, is a proactive process which ensures that the right level of financial resource is available at the right times, enabling the required level of service quality to be delivered by a contractor, supplier or staff member. This chapter aims to provide facilities managers with practical skills

for managing finance, focusing on the theory and application of best practice management techniques associated with strategic planning, analysis and/or control of facilities goods, services or projects.
