ABSTRACT

There are times when adhering to laws and regulations does not sufficiently satisfy a pharmacist’s obligation to act responsibly. In such cases, a pharmacist who wants to maintain professional and personal integrity can seek ethical guidance to help achieve this result. This chapter will describe some major similarities and differences between the two systems of law and ethics, will provide resources for ethical guidance in professional practice, and give some advice for circumstances where there are no such resources. Several references will be provided for further study since the subject matter is too dense and broad for adequate coverage in one small chapter.
