ABSTRACT
Quadrant III of the characterization grid is concerned with information on the non-material aspects of objects, as is Quadrant IV. The difference is that Quadrant III deals with information on the particular object at hand, with the custodian as principal source. Quadrant IV information fills in the gaps by supplying information that relates to objects in general or to other objects similar to the one in question.
