ABSTRACT

The steps of the methodology to this point provide a solid basis for treatment decision-making.

The starting point is the characterization, particularly the righthand-non-material-side. The timeline and values analysis of Chapter 7 lead to the ideal state. The choice of ideal state, in turn, provides a potential treatment endpoint and the basic outline for treatment. The treatment goal is modified based on what it seems that treatment can realistically achieve (Chapter 8). Setting a goal related to preservation and protection, as described in Chapter 9, assures that the proposed treatment accounts for the physical demands of the object’s future. Chapter 11 sets criteria for the choice of materials.
