ABSTRACT

This Act is called the Building Act 1984 and one of its prime purposes is to assist in the conservation of fuel and power, to prevent waste, undue consumption, misuse and contamination of water. It imposes on owners and occupiers of buildings a set of requirements concerning the design and construction of buildings and the provision of services, fittings and equipment used in (or in connection with) buildings. These involve, and cover: ● a method of controlling (inspecting and reporting) buildings; ● how services, fittings and equipment may be used; ● the inspection and maintenance of any service, fitting or equipment used.
