ABSTRACT
When we talk about good communications we are talking about transferring information from one person to another both quickly and accurately. We do this by talking to other people, looking at drawings and plans and discussing these with colleagues from the same company and with other professionals who have an interest in the same project. The technical information used within our industry comes from many sources. The IEE Regulations (BS 7671) is the ‘electrician’s bible’ and forms the basis of all our electrical design calculations and installation methods. British Standards, European Harmonised Standards and Codes of Practice provide detailed information for every sector of the electrotechnical industry, infl uencing all design and build considerations.
