ABSTRACT

Grant funding is not simply “free money.” Even the best planned grant-funded projects can run into unanticipated problems and roadblocks, particularly if the endeavor is to work with content that is not controlled by the award institution. The goal of this article is to provide an overview of one such instance where a Slavic project ran into unforeseen problems. It will provide a summary of the undertaking and discuss the difficulties involved in completing this type of digital Slavic project in order to illustrate the challenges that future awardees may face when working on grant-funded projects.
