ABSTRACT
Having outlined the potentially conflicting demands of performance on the
pitch and financial success, this chapter reviews the worrying state of
contemporary football finances. The major elements of both revenues and
costs are discussed, and their stability or instability are highlighted. Next, the
buying and selling of players is discussed. Finally indebtedness is reviewed,
and the implications of going into administration are discussed.
