ABSTRACT
Electrical and electronic components and systems are used in a huge
range of engineered products. An aircraft, for example, would simply
not get off the ground without the electrical and electronic systems
that maintain the flight instruments, operate the flight controls,
manage the engines, provide navigation and communication with the
ground. The term ‘fly by wire’ provides us with a clue as to just how
important the role of electricity is in the operation of a modern
aircraft!
