ABSTRACT

In July 2007, it is estimated that the world’s population is about 6,602,224,175, with about 3,278,616,036 (or 49.66%) females, and 3,323,608,139 (or 50.34%) of the males.2 The proportion of women

relative to men, both working in employed positions, varies globally, and ranges from 20% in Arab countries like Bahrain, Iraq, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, to 50% in countries like Cambodia, Ghana, and Latvia.3 Worldwide, more men than women are found in the upper echelons of government and business, and it is these leaders who hold the greatest influence in shaping their country’s policies and corporate HR management structures and behaviors.4
