ABSTRACT

The whole quality of the school environment, its mode of organisation and display, can enhance or actually inhibit learning and can build or erode the child’s understanding of whether his [sic] work is valued or of little real importance. It is an opportunity to set the scene for consideration and care of the environment and the things within it. If our own organisation and presentation is poor we quickly communicate to children a lack of pride in what we do and an acceptance of low standards. It is not an overstatement to say that this often leads to carelessness on the part of the child or even to thoughtless vandalism.
