ABSTRACT
The first core theme we can identify in information society debates concerns the growth of information and communication technologies (ICTs) and their capacity to circulate ever-greater volumes of text, graphics and moving images. In this chapter, we examine three studies which consider the growth of ICTs and the changing nature of representation in the information society. Each study addresses in different ways the links between culture, representation and identities.
