ABSTRACT
Urbanization is a long-term process of people migrating from rural areas to urban areas. Although the rate of urbanization may vary by country, every country has gone through the process of urbanization. Early populations settled in areas close to water supplies and sources of food. They would move from location to location as water supplies and the availability of food supplies lessened. Settlements were created on elevated sites for defensive reasons. Eventually, individuals started to group together.
