ABSTRACT

This chapter is about creating knowledge in event studies, most of which will come from doing research. But where do good research ideas come from? How do we know if a research project is worth doing? Most eventrelated research has stemmed from sheer curiosity, or from a management or policy need. Because event studies is a new field, a lot of pertinent research has been within well-established disciplinary lines of inquiry. To progress towards interdisciplinarity, wherein event studies will have its own theories and methodologies, we will have to focus more on the core phenomenon and related themes.
