ABSTRACT

The cognitive style, leveling/sharpening, describes how individuals perceive and memorize images. Leveling and sharpening are terms that label differences or variations in memory processing, specifically, the ability to retain discrete images of sequential, experience-based stimuli and make distinctions between them. These stimuli may be verbal, as in a story, or visual, as in a film.
