ABSTRACT
The visual/haptic cognitive style dimension describes individual preferences for visual versus tactile information processing. That is, some individuals prefer to process information through visual and spatial manipulation, whereas others, especially younger children, learn more about objects through tactile interaction with them (i.e., touching or holding them). Among adults, the most dominant perceptual style is visual, with the haptic style being second (Cherry, 1981).
