ABSTRACT
In 2008, the use of ethanol made from sugarcane surpassed for the first time the use of gasoline in the transportation and other energy sectors of Brazil. In 2009, the gap widened as the nation used 6.0 billion gallons of sugarcane ethanol compared with 5.0 billion gallons of gasoline.
