ABSTRACT
A split between external heat gains, internal heat gains and auxiliary heating varies between different building types and corresponding energy efficiencies. An example of this split in six passive solar houses is shown in Figure 161. The variations between different houses, which were of similar type, were due to different occupancy patterns and use. There will be a higher proportion of auxiliary heating in conventional buildings and a lower proportion of auxiliary heating in zero carbon buildings, in comparison with the example in Figure 161.
