ABSTRACT
Most of the minority ethnic population in the United Kingdom (UK), (i.e., England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland), is found in England. Hence, this chapter will focus mainly on the situation in England, although the basic issues will also be relevant to the rest of the United Kingdom, and in particular to Wales. The education systems in Scotland and Northern Ireland are different from those in England and Wales, which essentially share a common system.
