ABSTRACT

The recession of 2008 was the greatest economic crisis the world had faced since the Great Depression of the 1930s. It was preceded by the ‘sub-prime’ mortgage crisis, which originated in the USA and began in the summer of 2007, threatening the stability of the global financial system.
