ABSTRACT
RADIO FREE EUROPE/RADIO LIBERTY Radio Free Europe was founded by the anti-communist National Committee for a Free Europe (NCFE) in 1949. Its aim was to provide news and information to citizens in countries where the free flow of information was otherwise impeded, particularly in Eastern Europe. Initially based in Munich, the
organisation is currently headquartered in Prague, although it maintains local bureaux throughout its broadcast region.
