ABSTRACT

Earlier chapters have attempted to analyse the attitude of the Monopolies Commission towards the activities and performance of trade associations and dominant firms. Little attention was paid in the course of such analysis towards the statistical measures of economic performance relevant to such inquiries. The deferment of such analysis does not imply that the Monopolies Commission considered its financial and statistical examination as a secondary part of the inquiry. It is the purpose of Part V of this book to examine critically and in detail the quality of the Commission’s work in this field.
