ABSTRACT

Following the tragedy at Virginia Tech ( Chapter 9 , case 36), there has been an increase in developing teams of staff and faculty at institutes of higher education to assess potential threats to campus security. It is estimated that over eighty per cent of four-year colleges and universities have such teams (Eells and Rockland-Miller, 2011). Depending on the mission and purpose of the team, they may also seek to identify at-risk students in order to provide services and connection among existing departments.
