ABSTRACT
There is a wide variety of student behavior that challenges professors and staff on our college and university campuses. As Shakespeare writes in The Merchant of Venice, “All that glisters is not gold . . .”, we can also be assured that all that annoys a faculty or staff member is not a sign of potential violence. It is the variety of student behavior that often creates diffi culty in determining the difference between simply disruptive, and potentially dangerous.
