ABSTRACT

There are at least fi ve ways in which I can write this ethnography of the Tantric traditions of Nepal, in the mid-1990s. In the fi rst scenario, imagine that I am doing a Ph.D. at the University of Delhi and my committee consists of Professors Veena Das, T.N. Madan and B.N. Saraswati-all well-known Indian anthropologists with an impressive command over the literary template of the Indic civilisation.
