ABSTRACT

Adults and adolescents who struggle with intrusive thoughts and images concerning the death, particularly from violent causes. However, re-narration of the death should be preceded in most cases by interventions that stabilize the bereaved and provide coaching in emotion modulation, and that facilitate meaning-making following imaginal exposure. Intense retelling may not be needed in some cases of even violent death when the client is primarily concerned with attachment issues with the deceased, rather than with the dying per se.
