ABSTRACT
The original purpose of this chapter was to provide regional climate scenarios for the near future (2050). Climatic elements directly or indirectly affect several stages of the malaria cycle; hence, climate is an important factor in the geographical distribution of the disease and in its seasonal and episodic variations. However, present scientific knowledge does not allow reliable regional or local predictions of climate conditions decades ahead, which would be of great interest to malaria research and management.
