ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses methods of valuing noncommodity water uses: water-based recreation, water quality improvement, and the reduction of flood risks. Unlike offstream private good benefits, these exhibit benefits of a public or collective good nature, in that once they are provided, consumers cannot readily be excluded from using them.
