ABSTRACT
Literature about the CCE abounds with references to its rich biodiversity. In this chapter, we investigate approaches and challenges to conserving native biodiversity or species richness in the CCE. The term “biodiversity” is widely used and often refers primarily to species richness. In this chapter, we take a broader view of biodiversity, in particular of native biodiversity, and its conservation in the CCE.
