ABSTRACT

In our research, we aimed to address these shortcomings by focusing on persons 40 to 75 years old to elicit their “willingness to pay” (WTP) for reductions in current and future risks of death. We wanted to determine the WTP for a reduction in death risk in an appropriate context for pollution, how WTP would vary with age, whether WTP would be influenced by current health status, and how latency would affect WTP.
