ABSTRACT
Widespread electrification was selected as the top engineering achievement of the twentieth century in a survey conducted by the National Academy of Sciences (Constable and Somerville 2003). Electricity makes possible numerous labor and time saving mechanisms for us all. At the same time, generation of electricity has numerous environmental consequences, and there is considerable debate about the best mix of generation technologies. In this chapter we investigate impacts from several prominent generation technologies.
