Can early clues help us distinguish true warnings from false alarms? Did warnings of the 1950s and 1960s that proved valid have a different look from claims that came to nothing? Using Lawless's cases, coded according to the attributes described in the previous chapter, we can answer these questions and evaluate the hypotheses raised in Chapter 1.
