ABSTRACT
In a passive solar design, your first step in climate control is site design – modifying your site to improve its exposure to the sun, shield against winter winds, capture summer breezes and otherwise moderate the climate outside your house. Your second step is the house itself, as it supplies both heating and cooling to the space it encloses. Heating and cooling are based on simple thermal properties, such as solar gain, heat movement, heat loss and thermal storage.
