ABSTRACT
Food systems involve critical interactions at a number of levels on a range of scales (e.g. spatial, temporal, jurisdictional, institutional, management), each of which has its own group or groups of stakeholders. As the non-spatial scales are very relevant to food security/global environmental change (GEC), interactions research has to recognize, and engage with, a wide range of stakeholders; scale and level need to be clearly specified in research engagement activities.
