ABSTRACT

I don’t plan to cover the technical economic and financial aspects of leadership education, which usually make up the bulk of the syllabus. That is not because financial accounting, project management, marketing and other technical skills are unimportant; leaders do need to be good enough at all these things. But they are best considered as a subset of leadership, not a substitute for reflections on the larger matter of where leadership is heading – and why. Nor do I peer into the colourful kaleidoscope of fads peddled by legions of management gurus and consultants. Again that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t check them out. Once feeling comfortable with your own sustainability-literacy some of the more quirky approaches may be of use, but you do need to be a discerning consumer. 5
