ABSTRACT

We have at last become conscious of slum areas. That is undoubtedly some gain though, by itself, it does not take us far. The consciousness of this problem has brought the realization of its urgency and, at the same time, of its magnitude. Looking at these slums and the sub-human conditions in which men and women live there, we feel that immediate action must be taken to change all this. And then the vastness of the problem confronts us and we feel a little overwhelmed.
