ABSTRACT
The case studies in this volume present topical and controversial risk issues that cross national political borders on the European continent. These extra-regional risks require political solutions beyond the nation-state and thus raise a set of issues for both the theory of their management and its practical applications. Because of a general lack of research and institution building in this area, transboundary risk management can be considered a new and developing topic for risk researchers and practitioners.
