Consequences of Land Degradation for Land Users

Often land degradation is perceived as having only negative effects for land users and society alike. These effects are farreaching with off-site costs (referred to in Chapter 2) extending well beyond the site where land degradation has occurred. The effects of land degradation may be experienced by future generations, affecting how they can use the land. Box 7.1 lists some actors typically affected by land degradation.
